New ultra compact standard takes major steps performance-wise

Due to the many built-in functions and a wide output range, the small FR-D700 will fit both simple and more complex applications. One example of the sharp performance is you will gain full torque down to 1Hz with vector control. Other functions defining the FR-D700 are:

  • Sensorless Vector Control
  • Compact montage (side by side)
  • Surrounding temperature 50°C
  • OEC energy-saving function
  • Modbus RTU communication
  • Password protection

Output range:

  • 0,1-2.2kW, 1-phase 200-240V
  • 0,4-7.5kW, 3-phase 380-480V

The FR-D700 complies with the EMC directive with an interference filter assembled.

Communication and networks

The FR-D700 communicates with subordinate systems via its built-in RS485 interface (Modbus RTU). Through this interface, up to 32 frequency inverters may be connected in a multi-drop network. Serving as a master is a PLC system, an operator terminal or a PC.

In order to simplify the installation, there are option modules and ready-made cables in various lengths with pertaining plug tackle. Here on our website, you will also find complete projects, program examples, drivers, and a Get Started-document.

Upload resistance and programmable in- and outputs

The frequency inverters are equipped with upload resistance to reduce power rush when connecting to the internet. Inputs can have functions allocated for easy adaption to different applications. Examples are the 15 pre-selected speeds, increase/reduction of speed, setpoint, a second set of parameters, and start/stop with self control.

Two outputs may be configured for various operation indications, achieved frequency, power limits, PID threshold values, and alarm signalling. A timer supervises critical components and can send reminders for maintenance. One analogue power output.

Trippless and vector control for heavy loads

Quick and over-dimensioned power amplifier controls for all normal overload situations through power limitations prevent the frequency inverter from releasing.

For mechanic control requiring high torque in low rotation speeds, you may use the automatic “Torque Boost" for which you may adapt the backlog compensation.

OEC - a smart energy-saving function

In pump and fan applications, you will achieve instant energy savings as soon as the frequency inverter has been installed. The Mitsubishi Electrics’ frequency inverters take this one step further with built-in functions to reduce the demand for energy even more. The OEC (Optimum Excitation Control) continuously optimizes the motor’s magnetization, achieving savings of up to 10 %. These energy savings can be seen in various currencies directly on the inverter display, or in a monitored network.

Built-in PID controller

Thanks to the integrated PID controller with 4-20 mA feedback, frequency inverters may be profitably used for temperature control, pump and fan operation, and in other applications where you are looking to control the speed of a connected motor according to an external demand. Automatic restart after power failures is another function that is often required in these applications.

Fulfils all industry demands

The FR-D700 complies with the EMC directive with an interference filter assembled. The filters are very compact and easy to assemble behind the frequency inverter. The FR-D700 also fulfils demands in the international standards, CE, UL and cUL.

The new generation of frequency inverters – no “lemon” guaranteed

Mitsubishi Electric strives for quality all the way, and frequency inverters are no exception to the rule. Continuous tests are being made of new models in the 700 series, both when it comes to main components and the end-product. And we are not talking random samples. Each individual frequency inverter is quality-tested more than 300 times!

A long life design means an expected longevity for at least ten years, which is unique to the industry. The manufacturing process is reliable, with both human and mechanical surveillance. The functional test of circuit and power cards ensures that all functions work. And the self-diagnostics makes the frequency inverters automatically sense how much capacity remains in the various components so that maintenance may be scheduled.
