Programming

Configuration, manual operation and monitoring of operation values are most easily done from a parametric unit or with configuration software for PC.

FR-configurator
To enable communication with all frequency inverters in the 700 range (FR-A700 and FR-F700), FR-Configurator software is available.
Parameter unit
All frequency inverters are delivered complete with a parameter unit, which enables configuration and monitoring of operating parameters.
VFD Setup
A powerful and efficient tool for the configuration, documentation and operation of all Mitsubishi frequency inverters.

FR-configurator

To enable communication with all frequency inverters in the 700 range (FR-A700 and FR-F700), FR-Configurator software is available. FR-configurator is basically the same as VFD-setup 3.1, but it has a number of improvements and new functions, such as:

  • Conversion of a file containing parameter settings for FR-A500 to FR-A700
  • Parameters that have been changed from factory settings are marked by a green box
  • All digital I/O can be altered and monitored
  • The eight most recent alarms and operating data for when the alarm occurred can be monitored on the frequency inverter
  • Improved oscilloscope function

The parameters can be divided into application-specific groups to make it possible, for example, to show only the parameters for a typical pump application. All parameters can, of course, be read from the frequency inverter or retrieved from a saved file on a PC. This makes it simple to copy parameter settings for corresponding frequency inverters. Up to four operating values can be monitored continuously, as can logging over a lengthy period.

Parameter settings
Parameters can be displayed and changed via four different displays: function, individual, base and list of all.

Monitoring
Data can be displayed in four different ways: data, meter, oscilloscope and alarm history.

Test
Test running of motors and auto-tuning are included.

Diagnostics
Internal and fault diagnostics are also easily accessible.

The PC and frequency inverter are normally connected using a USB cable.

VFD Setup

This PC software is a powerful and efficient tool for the configuration, documentation and operation of all Mitsubishi frequency inverters.

Parameters are easily determined by the VFD Setup while you have access all the time to good descriptions and information about each individual parameter. In effect, you always have the manual with you when you have installed the VFD Setup on your PC.

Parameters can be put into application-specific groups so that, for example, you only show the parameters for a typical pump application. Of course, all the parameters can be read from the frequency inverter or fetched from a file saved in the PC. It is thus easy to copy parameter settings for similar frequency inverters. Up to four operating values can be monitored simultaneously, and also logging for a longer period.

The connection between a PC and the frequency inverter is normally by means of a cable with built-in RS232 to RS485 converter. Alternatively the frequency inverter can be connected into a RS485 network.

Parameter unit

All Mitsubishi frequency inverters are delivered complete with a basic parameter unit. The parameter unit permits you to configure and monitor operating parameters. The latest parameter units are equipped with knobs that allow settings to be made very quickly compared to the earlier increase/reduce buttons.

Parameter units that can be disconnected from the frequency inverters can be used for copying. Grouping of parameters for typical applications is also possible. Naturally all operating values can be monitored simultaneously so that a complete alarm history can be obtained. The eight most recent alarms with their associated voltages, currents and frequencies at the alarm event are stored in the frequency inverter.

Numeric parameter unit as an option

There is also a numeric parameter unit with an LCD display that can be set up for eight different languages. The parameter units can, for example, be mounted on the door of an enclosure.
