Beijer Electronics and Schneider Electric continues the SCADA collaboration in the Nordic and Baltic market

On June 1, 2009 the distribution contract between Schneider Electric and Beijer Electronics for the CitectSCADA range of products was extended with by 3 years. The contract continues to give Beijer Electronics distribution right for the CitectSCADA range of products in Sweden, Denmark, Finland and the Baltic countries. Schneider-Electric continues to sell the VijeoCitect range of products globally.

“The market continues to exist of both customers that want to purchase best of breed products from multiple vendors, and customers that are looking to purchase complete solutions from a single vendor. Therefore, it is important that the dual brand strategy with VijeoCitect and CitectSCADA is maintained,” says Jens Näsholm, Regional Business Development Manager, Citect by Schneider Electric. “The two products are very similar. Based on the needs in a specific project and the relationship with Beijer Electronics or Schneider Electric, our customers will get more value out of the total solution when choosing to work with one or the other product.”

The strategy is very simple: the CitectSCADA product range is sold by Beijer Electronics and the VijeoCitect product range is sold by Schneider Electric.

“Beijer Electronics is a recognized automation provider with a long history of providing and supporting the CitectSCADA product range in this region,” says Claes Anselmsson, Managing Director, Schneider Electric Sweden. “It is important for Schneider Electric as an organization, that we continue to help Beijer Electronics service their existing CitectSCADA customers and sell the CitectSCADA range of products even though we are also competitors.”

“Having Schneider Electric develop and support the CitectSCADA software range is only regarded as positive to Beijer Electronics,” says Lars Ekelund, Business Area Manager, Beijer Electronics Automation. “Yes, we are also seen as competition but the market is big enough for both of us I believe.”
